The men who designed and built these remarkable gardens where all lost in the trenches of World War 1. Overgrown they were forgotten but are now being returned to their original beauty.
The Mud Maid is one of two sculptures made by local artists in 1998 and is made of mud over timber and netting. The head and hands are cement, sand and mud. She is "clothed" with ivy and has Woodsedge and Montbretia on her head.
